Return Midnight Market in Jersey City

Midnight Market is stopping in Jersey City on Friday, July 22 at 902 Brewing Co., 101 Pacific Ave., for two sessions. The 21+ food festival will have favorite local vendors such as newcomer Stop Drop n Roll (Creative Egg Roll Concept), NJ Puerto Rican Restaurant, El Lechon de Negron (creator of Puerto Rican disco fries) and Anhelado (Colombian artisanal ice cream) . ) among others. The event will take place in two sessions.

Session 1 runs from 6-8 p.m. and includes access to multiple spaces in the brewery, access to eight local food vendors selling small bites, a live DJ, and outdoor games.

UkraineFest will feature new beers from 902 Brewing Co.

After hosting Midnight Market, 902 Brewing Co. continues the momentum when UkraineFest takes place on Saturday, July 23 from 1-6 p.m.

The event will include a sampler of traditional Ukrainian dishes, a Ukrainian bacon station, live accordionists, games, prizes, a Tricky Tray and a pork roast. The proceeds will be used to set up a mobile field hospital in a show of support against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

902 will also launch its new beer, Putin Huylo, a dry-hopped golden beer that was made for the Brew for Ukraine effort in which the Pravda brewery in Lviv, Ukraine invited brewers around the world to replicate their recipes in a gesture of solidarity. .

Drag Queen Story Hour with Harmonica Sunbeam

Drag Queen Story Hour with Harmonica Sunbeam takes place at Word Jersey City on Saturday, July 23 at 11:30 a.m. Sunbeam will read non-oppressive and non-ism books along with some of the classics while guiding attendees in song between stories in this event sponsored by the Jersey City LGBTQ+ Pride Festival. Word Jersey City is located at 29 McWilliams Pl., Jersey City.

Poetry reading at Barrow Mansion

The Barrow Mansion will host a poetry reading featuring Brenda Shaughnessy, Evie Shockley, Walter Ancarrow and Devyn Lorelei Mañibo on Saturday, July 23, from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The event will be hosted by Sara Munjack and is part of The Salon at Barrow Mansion, a program to support the arts with all ticket revenue going to the artists.

Open House Gallery for Artist Series at Green Space

Green Space Studios in Union City will open its Artist Series Open House Gallery on Friday, July 22, from 5-10 p.m. The series is Green Space’s version of a monthly artist residency program. Featured artists include Nati Hoyos, Genesis Moran, Mildred Roman, Elaf Hussein and Isha Ann.

Green Space will also be offering a free 45-minute editorial photo shoot. Those who donate more than $10 on Eventbrite to https://bit.ly/3yPPWQF or at the door will receive a free glass of sangria as well as entry into the raffle. The winner of the raffle will be announced via Instagram by the end of the week.

First installment at the Miller Branch Library

A public art program with Jersey City Free Public Libraries continues at Miller Branch Library on Saturday, July 23, featuring artist Maggie Ens’ “Library Avant Garden” art ecosystem and a live musical performance by guitarist Marc Sloan and the percussionist. Carmen Arrrojo at the library parking lot, 489 Bergen Ave, Jersey City.

The Jersey City-based artist will create an engaging structure featuring hanging flower baskets displaying ‘real flowers and faux greenery’, mixed mosaic art and shaped seating outside the Miller Library . Its sprawling exhibits will draw attention to a group of authors and include inspiring words of wisdom from authors Albert Einstein, Dr. Seuss, Carlos Ruiz Zalon, Maxine Hong Kingston, Maya Angelou, Kahil Gibran, Dena Colhoff and Anna Quindlen.

Children and families are invited to a free art workshop with Ens celebrating the installation of the artwork and musical event from 3-5 p.m., at the Miller Branch Library, 489 Bergen Ave., Jersey City.

Hoboken Talks will feature the ‘Survivor’ actor

The next edition of Hoboken Talks from the Hoboken Museum will feature Actor “Survivor” Michael Turner speak with the guest host and his colleague “Hoboken Whisperer,» Stu Chirichella, Thursday, July 28, from 7 to 8 p.m.

Turner, a Hoboken resident and retired firefighter, appeared on the reality show’s 42nd season, which ran from March 9 to May 25 this year.
