Princeton Makes and Ragged Sky Press Host Second Sunday Poetry Reading July 10

(PRINCETON, NJ) — Princeton Marksan artists’ cooperative based in Princeton, and Tattered Sky Press, a local poetry-focused publisher, will host a second poetry reading on Sunday, July 10 at 4:00 p.m. at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Mall. The the reading will feature Steve Nolan and Lew Maltby. Their readings will be followed by an open mic accessible to a maximum of 10 spectators who wish to read their original poetry.

Steve Nolan spent 30 years in the military and 25 years as a mental health professional. He has published in numerous journals and his poetry was featured on National Public Radio, Morning Edition, upon his return from Afghanistan in 2007. He is the author of Going deep (with NJ DeVico), Base camp: poemsand American Carnage: An Officer’s Duty to Warn. Her work reflects her commitment to social justice.

Lew Maltby is an atypical poet. He was a truck driver, factory worker, litigator, model, lumberjack and soldier. All of these experiences find voice in his poetry. His footage includes “watching a tracer meteor shower through barbed wire” while crawling through a minefield to “bodies colliding like snowflakes under the Northern Lights” with a lover in Iceland. His first collection, smiling axes, was published by Kelsay Press in 2019.

Princeton Marks is a cooperative made up of 32 local artists who work in a range of artistic genres, including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles and jewellery. Customers will be able to support local artists by purchasing a wide variety of artwork including large paintings, prints, bespoke greeting cards, stained glass lamps and window hangings, jewelry in a variety patterns and patterns, and more.
