Princeton Makes and Ragged Sky Press present Second Sunday Poetry Reading on June 12

(PRINCETON, NJ) — Princeton Marksan artists’ cooperative based in Princeton, and Ragged Sky Press, a local poetry-focused publisher, will host a second Sunday poetry reading on Sunday, June 12 at 4:00 p.m. The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center and present Vasiliki Katsarou and BJ WJard. Their readings will be followed by an open mic accessible to a maximum of 10 spectators who wish to read their original poetry. Poems reflecting Father’s Day are encouraged.

Vasiliki Katsarou was raised in Massachusetts by parents of Greek descent. Poet, editor, filmmaker and publisher, she is the author of a collection of poetry, Memento Tsunami (Ragged Sky) and a chapbook, three sea stones (Lucia Press). Honored as a poet Geraldine R. Dodge, her poetry has been published widely and internationally, including in Poetry Daily, Otoliths, Tiferet, Literary Mama, The Wave, NOON (Japan), Corbel Stone Press’ Contemporary Poetry Series (UK ), Regime Journal (Australia), Mediterranean Poetry (Denmark) and Mandragoras (in Greek translation). She is curator of poetry at Frenchtown Bookshop and teaching artist at the Hunterdon Art Museum in New Jersey.

Neighborhood BJ is the author of four collections of poetry, including Jackleg Opera: Collected Poems 1990–2013 (North Atlantic Books), which received the Paterson Prize for Literary Excellence. His poems have appeared in Poetry, American Poetry Review, TriQuarterly, The New York Times and The Sun, among others, and have been featured on NPR’s “The Writer’s Almanac” and the Poetry Daily website. He is the recipient of a Pushcart Award and two New Jersey State Council Distinguished Artist Grants on the Arts. He co-founded the Creative Writing Degree Program at Warren County Community College in New Jersey, where he teaches full-time.

Princeton Marks is a cooperative made up of 32 local artists who work in a range of artistic genres, including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles and jewellery. Customers will be able to support local artists by purchasing a wide variety of artwork including large paintings, prints, bespoke greeting cards, stained glass lamps and window hangings, jewelry in a variety patterns and patterns, and more. Ragged Sky Press is a small, very selective cooperative press. We work closely with our authors. Authors retain copyright and we use our professional experience and resources to support the author’s work throughout the editing, production and design process. Ragged Sky Press has historically focused on mature voices, overlooked poets and women’s perspectives.
