Two Poet Laureates, Theresa Whitehill and Georgina Maria Guardado, will read their poetry at the Willits Community Theater on Saturday, July 9 at 7 p.m.
Theresa Whitehill was the City of Ukiah Poet Laureate from 2009-2011 and has dedicated her entire career to producing poetry readings and literary events. She works as a letterpress printer and edge designer. She is currently working with Felicia Rice of Moving Parts Press on “Heavy Lifting”, a collaborative artist book slated for publication in December 2022.
Georgina Marie Guardado is the Lake County Poet Laureate for 2020-2024, an Academy of American Poets Poet Laureate Fellow, and the Lake County Library Literacy Program Coordinator. She is Literary Coordinator for the Lake County Arts Council, Poet-in-Residence for The Bloom, and Board Member of the Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference.
A free reading will follow the two featured readers. Entry is by donation, although no one is turned away for lack of funds. The Willits Community Theater recommends, but does not require, that audience members be vaccinated and wear face coverings while reading poetry.
